Common questions
Measure your duct opening — the hole in the floor or wall — by width and length. That's the size to shop. The faceplate will be larger, but you order by the opening.
Hold your hand near it while the system runs. Air blowing out means supply. No airflow on a larger vent means it's a return drawing air back to the system.
Always the duct opening — not the old cover's faceplate. Covers vary in overhang, so measuring them leads to the wrong size.
